What I love about being Latina: Our culture. Between history, food, music, language and everything else under the sun, it’s hard not to be a proud Latina.
What I love about being Americana: Knowing that the United States is a melting pot of so many different kinds of people, it enriches my existence to be able to learn about so many different backgrounds, and how, despite the differences, we are all the same.
My biggest challenge in growing up Latina in America: Overcoming misconceptions about our intelligence and sexuality among other things.
My biggest support in growing up Latina in America: Mi madre. She was the first born generation in the States and she knows what it was like to feel trapped between two cultures and struggle to break free and discover her own personality. Why I am beautiful: Because my husband tells me so every day, and I feel like I should believe him.
