I announced a few weeks ago that one of my resolutions was to “make an effort” before walking out the door (oh, how standards change when you have a baby. The other day, I was covered in spit up at a pediatrician appointment and then shopping for a cool mist humidifer at the Babies R Us afterwards). Anyway, I had the opportunity to coordinate and write a series for the local newspaper, The Charlotte Observer, on three different women who had set style resolutions for themselves in the new year. Everyone has a sense of style, but some of us are scared to embrace it. In fact, many of us think that we can’t have style until our bodies or hair or faces are different. This year, we’re sharing with you the journeys of three women whose resolutions aren’t to alter their bodies. They are women at distinct stages in their lives — places you have been, are in, or may be going to one day. Instead of wanting to alter their bodies in the new year, they are looking to see their bodies — and selves — in a new light by finding their style voices as they work to dress for the jobs they want, find perfect pieces for the women they are today, and celebrate milestones in their lives with a look that reveals how they feel.
