Friday Reflections is all about reflecting on the week by observing our senses. My hope is that this will be a gentle, easy way to tune into how we are doing and what we are experiencing weekly when journaling in general can feel so daunting.
Now, for this week’s Friday Reflections (with each sense as your inspiration, consider how experiencing it impacted your week).
Here is my sensory round-up for this week:
tasting :: the most amazing 11th anniversary dinner at Vivace in Charlotte (sweet pea and ricotta ravioli with spring onions with roasted cauliflower and broccoli on top. It was ridiculous in the best possible way), Chocolate Chip Quinoa Trail Mix Balls, Mushroon Ragu, Artichoke and Kale Pie, sweet cream and cookies ice cream at Ben and Jerry’s Free Cone Day, clementine after clementine
hearing :: early morning birds thrilled about spring, exciting ideas about a new professional possibility, lots of Happy’s effervescent laughter
smelling :: hay and horsiness at the farm, the scent of cut wild onion dress wafting into the air
seeing :: every single reptile possible at Reptile Day at the local college, little boys playing games from my youth like Mother May I, stacks of journals from my students, piles of research for completing new projects/ responsibilities
feeling :: hurried and behind but also knowing it will be just fine, what gets done will get done, what doesn’t get done, will get done later
wishing/hoping :: for the things that I have recently prepared for– meetings, workshops, etc– to go well and for real movement to be made in my daily schedule after the efforts of the last few weeks and still true from last week: for the grading fairies to dust me with their magic so I am an efficient, thoughtful, inspiring grader as I tackle the last month of the semester with all the papers, journals, exams, quizzes, and presentations that come with it.
What about you? What were your sensational experiences this week? Please share!
