Friday Reflections is all about reflecting on the week by observing our senses. My hope is that this will be a gentle, easy way to tune into how we are doing and what we are experiencing weekly when journaling in general can feel so daunting.
Now, for this week’s Friday Reflections (with each sense as your inspiration, consider how experiencing it impacted your week).
Here is my sensory round-up for this week:
tasting :: Vegan Quinoa and Sweet Potato Chili , Baked Zucchini Sticks and Sweet Onion Dip, Turkey Taco Soup.
hearing :: coughs and my own crackly voice as I nurse a sinus infection. I sound like a boy making his way through puberty.
smelling :: arroz con pollo. I made a big batch at our house Wednesday night and while it was okay, it wasn’t great (so don’t ask for the recipe yet). In fact, the smell had much more flavor than the actual meal. Will work out kinks.
seeing :: lots of hands of Old Maid and Go Fish. I really enjoy sitting around and playing card and board games with Happy and, when some of my family visited this week, everyone got in on the action.
feeling :: the sun on my face. We had a Sunday of perfect for winter weather– the sun was out and the temps were in the 50s- and so Happy and I laid down on the driveway (in our winter coats) and just soaked up the sun for a few minutes.
wishing/hoping :: a wonderful trip to New York City where I’ll speak as a guest of one of NYU’s women’s group in observance of Women’s History Month. Wanna come? Join me Monday night at 6 pm at the Kimmel Center, 66 Washington Square South (they require photo ID for admission).
What about you? What were your sensational experiences this week? Please share!

ugh. sick sucks. i hope you are feeling better soon, friend.
also, i can’t wait until ruby is old enough to play board games and cards. i’m tired of running, jumping and climbing all morning. every morning.
