One more lovely quote from Yoharis, one of my students this semester:
I feel like I am in control of my life now. It was as if I had been looking at myself in the wrong mirror. At last, a breath of fresh air, not more rules, wrongs and rights. At last, something that made sense and felt right. I don’t know how I have gotten so far in life without realizing that beauty (the way the media projects it) is a strategy to make money, without any regard of the consequences. As children, we are all born with the understanding that beauty has no shape, size, weight, or color. Someone that loves us is beautiful, no doubt about it. But, somehow, as we grow older, our mind starts getting contaminated, and a new set of beauty guidelines is fed to us, sadly.
