I was watching the evening news the other night and saw an interview with Dr. Susan Love, a leading breast cancer researcher, about her new effort: creating an army of women to find the cure for breast cancer. Specifically, Love is recruiting 1 million women who are willing to be a part of the research to find a cure. Traditionally, researchers work with women who have breast cancer which allows them insight into finding treatment options or even cures. But what if they could study women who didn’t have breast cancer– could that lead to a preventive vaccine? Your signing up as a member of the Army of Women doesn’t obligate you to anything. What does happen is that you receive information about studies being done across the nation and, if you fit the criteria and want to participate, you sign up.
The Love/Avon Army of Women offers women the opportunity to partner with the scientists who are conducting research that will end this disease–once and for all.
Breast cancer has been around for decades, but it does not have to be our future. We can be the generation that stops breast cancer once and for all by figuring out what causes this disease and how to prevent it!
It takes a just a minute to join. But the impact we will have will last a lifetime.
