What I love about myself: I’m strong, strong-willed too. I know in my heart that I can achieve anything I put my mind to.
My biggest challenge in accepting my body and beauty: As a former college athlete, I was used to having someone plan my workouts for me everyday. Now I’m challenged with keeping myself on schedule. When I first started working full-time at a previous job, I let my workouts slide and I was pretty down about it. After I accepted my body and myself for who I was (no longer just an athlete, but a youngprofessional), I was able to focus on workouts again and really began to enjoy my body.
My biggest support in learning to appreciate myself: My mom. She’s taught me that everyone has ups and downs, but the most important thing is how you feel about yourself. She had a tough childhood and persevered through it to give our family such a great experience and sense of self worth.
Beauty is: Whatever you want it to be. Everyone has a natural beauty that is her own.
Why I am strong: I moved A LOT growing up, and have continued to move while advancing in my career. When you move with your family, you have your parents and, in my case, my sister, but with my career, I’ve moved alone, and my self confidence and inner strength have really grown.
Why I am beautiful: I am very open-minded and really work hard to find the good in everyone. I care and give to those around me, whether it is a greeting card for a special occasion, or a delicious home-cooked meal. I work hard at my life and try to positively impact others.
What women must know: That we all have times and events in our life that wear us down, but we all carry the strength and knowledge to pull through any trying occasion. Life is truly what you make it, so set goals for yourself – reachable goals – and live to the fullest!
