What I love about myself: My imagination – it is very entertaining. My family. My food.
My biggest challenge in accepting my body and beauty: I was very, very thin naturally for a long time. I have had a tough time learning to love my curves as they have developed. My biggest support in learning to appreciate myself: My sisters – their bodies are so different from mine, and I never had any trouble believing they are beautiful. And my friends Chris and Catherine, who taught me to love what my body can do.
Beauty is: Caring passionately and letting it show.
Why I am strong: I can dig a deep trench in my garden and make things grow, I can feed the people I love and help them grow, I can earn money, I can make beautiful things with my hands.
Why I am beautiful: Same reasons…..and I can dance.
What women must know: All of the things I really need to know are the ones that are hardest for me to learn, and I have to keep learning over and over. So here’s one: You have to learn to distinguish what you want to do, versus what other people reward you for doing….and figure out what balance you want between the two.
