What I love about being Latina: I love sharing great food and culture with my friends, and educating them on the misconceptions about Latin Americans. What I love about being Americana: I love living in a free country where women can do anything they want to do… even run for president now!
My biggest challenge in growing up Latina in America: While growing up, I decided early on that my race and skin color would not be a factor in determining the direction I wanted my life to go. If I didn’t acknowledge differences between me and white women, there wouldn’t be any. From that day forward, the sky was the limit when it came to my accomplishments.
My biggest support in growing up Latina in America: My beliefs, high-self esteem, and love for all of mankind were instilled in me by my mother. She alone raised my three siblings and me, and made sure we received our college educations, something she never accomplished. My mom dedicated her entire life to raising her children, and I am forever grateful to her.
Why I am beautiful: I am beautiful because I believe in God’s love and let Him shine through me everyday.
You’re the coolest M’ija I know! 🙂
