Friday Reflections

Friday Reflections is all about reflecting on the week by observing our senses.  My hope is that this will be a gentle, easy way to tune into how we are doing and what we are experiencing weekly when journaling in general can feel so daunting.

Now, for this week’s Friday Reflections (with each sense as your inspiration, consider how experiencing it impacted your week).

Here is my sensory round-up for this week:

tasting ::  bone warming chicken vegetable soup (first time I ever cooked a turnip).

hearing ::  knee buckling news about my sweet Papito.  You might recall that our family went through a harrowing experience a couple years ago with my dad.  He has had an incredibly difficult time with mobility since and damn if we didn’t find out this week–after we sought out a new physician and drove hours to take dad to see him– that my dad suffered a stroke that went undiagnosed sometime during that nightmare.  Feeling so thankful that given that and everything my poor sweet dad has experienced health-wise that all we are talking about are mobility issues, but my heart goes out to my sweet dad.  We’re looking forward now that we know what we are up against and I believe in infinite possibilities when it comes to my Papito.

smelling ::  the crisp smell of spring dawning.  Spring is my favorite season, and one of my favorite sensational spring experiences is being outside in the early evening and catching a whiff of cut grass. A couple hints of that this week making me eager for more.

seeing ::  plants budding, LOTS of side walk chalk art and blown bubbles, sunny days, a neater Sugar Shack after a big paper purge, an overrun to do list.

feeling ::  so happy to be home.  It was my first full week at home since January, and it was wonderful.

wishing/hoping ::  The next few days are an awesome mix of good things:  workshops that I love to facilitate, interviews for our first staffer for Circle de Luz, and two of my college roommates/ besties coming to see me so I am just wishing for a whole lot of happy, laughs, and epiphanies.  You know, that’s all.

What about you?  What were your sensational experiences this week?  Please share!
