Friday Reflections

Friday Reflections is all about reflecting on the week by observing our senses.  My hope is that this will be a gentle, easy way to tune into how we are doing and what we are experiencing weekly when journaling in general can feel so daunting.

Now, for this week’s Friday Reflections (with each sense as your inspiration, consider how experiencing it impacted your week).

Here is my sensory round-up for this week:

tasting ::  wonderfully made, perfectly flavored gnocchi from the University of Saint Joseph’s cafeteria and too easy tortellini soup.

hearing ::  the funniest stories ever as I visited with long time friends (oh the memories), moving testimonies as to what Hijas Americanas has meant to some readers who had it assigned in class at the University of Saint Joseph, and inspiring ideas about self-acceptance from passionate audiences at my 10 Truths for Your Self-Acceptance talks.

smelling ::  winter.  I was reminded that deep, snowy cold has a smell when I was in Connecticut this week.

seeing ::  one of my besties become a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army.  I’ve known her since we were in middle school and to watch her become an LTC was a really cool, powerful, touching, inspiring thing.  Also, so happy to see my family when I came home after two trips aways in one week.

feeling ::  hugely grateful for a really special week– from seeing one of my dearest friends become a LTC to speaking at two universities about self-acceptance as part of their National Eating Disorder Awareness Week events, from a fun play date with friends for both me and Happy to a little down time at the end of the week to reflect, putter, put things together, I had a really nice week.

wishing/hoping ::  for peace for my loved ones as we visit new doctors, work our way through challenges, and just hold each other in grace.

What about you?  What were your sensational experiences this week?  Please share!

    Tasting: delicious chocolate truffles

Hearing: blue and coal tits and blackbirds twittering

Smelling: the sweet babyskin of Enjoy

Seeing: snowdrops and crocuses, the first flowers of the year / Delight playing with other children / the very first smile of Enjoy, and the biggest one addressed to her big sis’

Feeling: a biting icy wind on my face immediately followed by the warmth of a sunshine… I love such contrasts! I cannot explain why, they make me feel deeply alive!
Also feeling delighted by the results of my weaning-off media-diet!

Hoping/wishing: that Enjoy’s nightrythm remain as good as it was this week!
