Friday Reflections

Friday Reflections is all about reflecting on the week by observing our senses.  My hope is that this will be a gentle, easy way to tune into how we are doing and what we are experiencing weekly when journaling in general can feel so daunting.

Now, for this week’s Friday Reflections (with each sense as your inspiration, consider how experiencing it impacted your week).

Here is my sensory round-up for this week:

tasting :: Pumpkin Bread and Caramel Apple Chip Cookies (that a dear friend shared with me!).  Oh, fall flavors, how I love thee.

hearing ::  Bob Marley’s Redemption Song, inspired by a Twitter post from one of my former high school students that said this:

You may know @rosiemolinary as an educator & author. Her real claim to fame is introducing me to Bob’s Legend CD circa 1996. Real music!

I loved using music as a learning tool in the classroom when I taught high school history but was surprised that I was her first exposure to Marley.  When I asked her about that, she responded that she had always just thought of him as a smoker and didn’t realize the social justice inspiration of his music.  My work here is done, people.

smelling ::  Lavender candle and the awesome, crisp, clean fall air.

seeing ::  The constant golden rain shower of falling leaves.  Every time I am outside, the air is shimmering with the leaves catching the light.  It’s gorgeous.

feeling ::  reflective.

wishing/hoping :: for a very happy birthday weekend as both my sweet Papito and I are celebrating.

What about you?  What were your sensational experiences this week?  Please share!

This post was inspired by Teacher Goes Back to School who was inspired by Pink of Perfection’s Five Sense Friday.
