Friday Reflections

Friday Reflections is all about reflecting on the week by observing our senses.  My hope is that this will be a gentle, easy way to tune into how we are doing and what we are experiencing weekly when journaling in general can feel so daunting.

Now, for this week’s Friday Reflections (with each sense as your inspiration, consider how experiencing it impacted your week).

Here is my sensory round-up for this week:

tasting ::   Homemade Minestrone soup.  Loaded with beans, peppers, tomatoes and spinach.  Yum.

hearing ::  Wild.  Just started the audiobook of Cheryl Strayed’s memoir.

smelling ::  a vanilla bean candle.  The go to scent for our kitchen candle, it is just the right warm note on a cool fall night.

seeing ::  my parents.  Happy missed my parents during their brief mid-week visit (he was at preschool and my brother was on a tight timeline to get the back home) so we drove down to see them this weekend.  It is always a good time, and it’s nice to see how they unabashedly enjoy all three of us as much as we enjoy them.  Also, my mom is good for some of the best laughs ever.  I am still laughing over a quippy one liner she had.

feeling :: still sick.  This fall’s quest will be figuring out the source of my sinus infections and ridding myself of them.

wishing/hoping :: for an incredible weekend with good work (it’s the last Unbridled Authenticity of the year) and good family time.

What about you?  What were your sensational experiences this week?  Please share!

Smelling and seeing the crisp air of fall. What is it about fall light that is so invigorating?

I just picked up “Wild” the other day and am excited to dive in.

tasting : the first “Christstollen” of this season, a german Christmas-time bakery…. I usually buy only season-wise, and Christmas is definitely far from now… but I just couldn’t resist as the weather went chilly.

hearing : Delight playing and laughing with her cousine

smelling : a rose from my garden

seeing : candles, just perfect with fall!

feeling : quite tired, fighting against a cold. Yes, this is also part of fall!

    wishing/hoping : for an easy-going week
