Bit # 1

So, BF and Happy went to a local farm last week and Lola went with them.  While BF and Happy were seeing chickens and messing with the well, Lola sat in the front seat.  Some folks came along that BF knows a little bit, and they started talking to Happy.

“Who is that big furry thing in the front seat of your car?”  They asked Happy.

“My daddy.”  Happy answered.

Bit # 2

Happy goes to a little summer fun camp a few days a week and his counselor/ teacher asked us teh otehr day if we had any news.

“News?”  Bf asked, bewildered.

“Yes, Happy’s been telling us he has a brother.”

Sure enough, back home, Happy was talking about his brother.

“Happy, do you WANT a brother?” I asked.

“A brother AND a sister,” he answered.

BF looked green.

By the next day, Happy was telling folks that his brother is “out of town” (totally his words) and “at college” and that he’s a “great brother”.

The especially tasty meal of the week here was Mushroom and Spinach Enchiladas.  I got the recipe from my amazing web designer, Ron Doyle.  Make them; you won’t be sorry.

Bit # 4

We have a new roof. And another new roof on the way.  That makes no sense, you say.  Well, you’d be right.  Except for that 26 hours after the new roof was put up, another part of the same tree (a tree that was scheduled to come down today) came down and took out the new roof.  And this time it didn’t just smash the roof.  It went through things.  So, the tree is still on/ through the roof and we worked on Wednesday on just getting the tree and it’s very lopsided limbs out from above us.  Fascinating stuff.  I’ll post pictures sometime.  Sometimes later this week, we’ll get the tree out of the roof, attic, and ceiling and start over. And if you are wondering if I’m still feeling lucky, I am.  Know why? The tree stopped 2 inches shy of the Sugar Shack.  It sheared the outside light right off the Sugar Shack’s facade but, other than that, the SS is no worse for the wear.  If it had crumpled the shack, I think I would  have found BF curled up somewhere devastated.  So, we’re lucky and a lot more well lit around here.

Would love to hear any pleasure reading book suggestions you have.  I just finished The First Husband by Laura Dave and Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult and have Bossy Pants by Tina Fey, Georgia Bottoms by Mark Childs, and All We Ever Wanted Was Everything by Janelle Brown on the bedside table.
