In the category Sometimes a Lack of Sleep Makes You Terribly Ditzy:  The battery in my electronic car key went out.  Lamenting to BF, I said, “I guess I am just gonna have to leave my car unlocked all the time.”  He stared at me for a moment to see if I was joking. I was not.  I could not lock my car if the electronic key wasn’t working.  Then he said, “You could lock it with the actual key, you know.”  Oh, yes, that thing.  This story would be far less pitiful if this car weren’t my first one with electronic anything and if I had been driving it for more than 50,000 miles. 

In the category Sometimes Love Makes You Terribly Ditzy:  Baby is going through a growth spurt.  People are always surprised that he’s just 17 months old.  The kid’s pretty tall for his age.  BF and I were tag-teaming on a diaper change and BF stood the boy up to pull up his pants.  “You are so tall, baby, and you have these short little parents.  How did that happen?”  Um, he has our love, BF, but not our genes.

A couple weeks ago, I went through a drive-thru with baby in the backseat.  An older gentleman was at the window serving us.  “Where did you get that angel in the back seat from,” he asked.  “Heaven,” I answered.  He looked confused for a moment and then said, “Yes, I hear they have good models there.”  Driving off, I wondered why he was so confused.  And then it dawned on me that his question wasn’t really rhetorical.
