So it’s October 13th which means I am 36 days away from being 36. I am in denial about the 36ness of the upcoming birthday and feel like I can be because I was ID-ed at the grocery store last week while buying Nyquil capsules and told, in a rather put out voice, “Ma’am, you really need to be 18 to buy these.” “Oh, I’m 18,” I told the girl, “I am WAY past 18.” So, maybe I am really celebrating my 18th birthday twice in 36 days.
Whatever it might be that I am celebrating, it means I have to come up with my annual list of things to do in the upcoming year. And how in the world do I come up with 36 things to celebrate before turning 37?
First, there are the things that I just haven’t done yet from my 35 things to do before turning 36 list.
The ones that are worth keeping right now are:
Complete 2nd book draft (think this will be crossed off the list by December and since I am under contractual obligation to finish it; I think it’s safe that I’ll get to cross this off).
Live the life I imagine personally and professionally (close but not quite there yet).
Earn at least $10,000 in program donations for Circle de Luz.
Run six miles or at least an hour on my own.
Clean out mom and dad’s attic.
Clean out our attic.
Take a cooking class.
Landscape the backyard.
Create the perfect back porch space.
Then there are the new things that I’ve thought of for the list…
Document baby’s 2nd year with a daily photograph
Journal for baby once every week
do a 5 by 5 piece of artwork every week
read 36 books
take singing lessons
Redo The Artist’s Way
Complete Living Artfully
Sign a new book contract
Have a plentiful backyard garden
Do Strengthfinder 2.o
Be able to do at least two pull ups.
But that brings me just to 20 things. So I need inspiration from you. What’s on your life/bucket list? What’s something you want to do in the next year? What’s something you think I should do in the next year?
