Lola and Le Phant

Oh, my puppy.  She has no idea what is about to hit her, but, holy cow, I can tell that there will not be one dull moment in this house just a few weeks from now.  We’ve been working on the nursery to house our newest addition and Lola has taken a shine to the new rug in there.  It’s now up high on her list of favorite places to be (I have a distinct feeling that Lola is going to bag our bedroom floor and go sleep on the rug every night next to her baby.  She digs babies.  Licks them up and down to the point of a good spit washing when she sees one, but she also has zero sense of her size so she tends to knock babies down, too.).

Anyway, as you can see in the photo, the nursery is currenly inhabited by one grey stuffed elephant who I have named Le Phant (pronouncced Le Font).  Well, Lola has taken a shine to Le Phant and every day, she sneaks into the nursery and drags Le Phant off the glider and beds down with him on the floor (I haven’t caught that image in photo yet).  When I get up and make towards the nursery, she dashes off, totally not wanting to get busted even though she is because Le Phant’s on the floor and not on the chair.  Yesterday, I decided enough was enough.  I don’t want Le Phant all slobbery and covered in Lola’s hair before the baby gets here.  So I put Le Phant in the crib figuring that was a perfectly safe place.   

Well, BF walked through the nursery (we have no hallways in this house.  All rooms have two doors and lead from one room to another so you have to go through the nursery to get to other places) last night and discovered Lo Puppy trying desperately to pull Le Phant through the slats of the crib by his ear.  I think Lola, Le Phant, and the baby are going to have all sorts of things to work out amongst themselves in the very near future!
