A M'ija to Meet: Judy, Costa Rican and Peruvian

What I love about being Latina: I honestly do not think I can mention one thing, so I’ll mention a few: lots of family, being curvy, the born ritmo to dance and move my hips to any beat, unique features, the language, and an awesome culture.

What I love about being Americana: My citizenship!!! The education I have received, so far and more to come.

My biggest challenge in growing up Latina in America: Fitting in with Caucasians or fitting in with Latinas, was I too Latina or too white…which one was right? Luckily, nowadays I love both cultures and have found ways to integrate the both of them. My major is communication, and this past summer the internship I had required me to speak Spanish all the time! The crew would always call me “la Tica gringa”, but I’ve come to love my gringa accent, it’ll either make me or break me, but so far, Latinos love it!

My biggest support in growing up Latina in America:
My family, through thick and thin. Family always comes first and will be here forever.

Why I am beautiful:
Because I see things with a more liberal perspective. This allows me to embrace everyone and not pass judgment. I believe everyone has something to contribute in this world, each person just needs that opportunity to shine, and I love giving them the chance.
